My recent overnight stay at Dummer Down Campsite was quite an experience, especially as it marked the maiden outing for our TentBox XL Lite. The campsite itself offered excellent conditions, with plenty of space to pitch up and a hard, flat ground that made setting up a breeze.
One of the major highlights of this campsite is its fantastic location right next to Dummer Brewery. Arriving on a hot and humid evening, we found a lively party in full swing at the brewery, which immediately set a great, vibrant atmosphere. The presence of a street food van selling delicious Bao Buns was an unexpected treat that we simply couldn’t pass up – a definite win for any foodies out there!
However, the proximity to the brewery did come with one notable drawback. While the brewery was scheduled to close at 10 PM, the music from the party continued well past that, until around 12:30 AM. Given the campsite is only about 10 to 15 meters away, this made getting to sleep quite challenging.
Despite the late-night music, the next morning brought another positive. The onsite coffee shop, Honesty Dummer Down, opens early. We took advantage of this to grab some excellent coffee, a perfect start before heading off.
Overall, Dummer Down Campsite boasts a great location and a lively atmosphere. Even with the late music, we weren’t deterred and would definitely consider returning for another stay.
